Biography of Idris Wada



Captain Idris Ichalla Wada is the current governor of Kogi state, he was born on August 26, 1950. an indigene of Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In 1954 he enrolled in a primary school at Onitsha, Anambra State. then moved to Kano to complete it 1963. Thereafterhe attended King’s Commercial College Buguma in Rivers State. Idris Wada Later proceeded to the University of Abuja where he acquired both his B.Sc., and M.Sc. in Business Administration.


Upon conclusion of his education, Idris Wada floated a business which he called the Ibro Trading Company, a going concern that expanded over time, and now engages in variety of businesses, including: construction, furniture making, hotels and other businesses.

At the age of 23 years, Idris Wada had acquired amazing knowledge of aviation that he was credited with training the brightest Pilots Nigeria ever had. Idris Wada became a Captain of Command at a very young age.

He defeated his major opponent Abubakar Audu, succeeding the former governor, Ibrahim Idris his cousin, making him the third civilian governor of Kogi State since the creation of the state in 1992.

He became Governor of Kogi State after winning the 2003 election under the platform of People Democratic Party, he was sworn-in as the goveror of Kogi on May 29, 2003.

In April 2007, Idris was re-elected as governor of Kogi State, though his re-election was nullified.

In a re-run held on March 29, 2008, Idris Wada was returned as the Governor of Kogi State.
