He attended Amaise Central Primary School, Umuobiakwa. In 
1973, and thereafter attended Eziama High 
School, Aba. But wrote his School certificate examination in  Ihie High School, Isiala Ngwa in 1979.
He gained admission into the University of Maiduguri to study 
Clinical Biochemistry in 1980, at the age of 
16, and graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons.) Second Class 
Upper Division in August, 1984.
Thereafter returned to  University of 
Maiduguri for an M.Sc degree in Biochemical Toxicology and graduated in 
1990. He obtained a doctorate degree, Ph.D in
 Biochemical Pharmacology from the University of Calabar in 1994, at the age of 30.
He was an Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Department of 
Biochemistry, Ebonyi State University College of Basic Medical Sciences,
 from 2000 to 2002. From 1998 to 2001, he was Acting Head of Department 
of Applied Biochemistry, Faculty of Applied Natural Science, Enugu 
State University of Technology, having worked as Lecturer 1 in the same 
the department in 1998.  
From 2007 to 2009, he was appointed General Manger, Abia State 
Passengers Integrated Manifest and Safety Scheme (ASPIMSS), after his 
appointment as Special Adviser to the Governor of Abia State on 
Environment and Sanitation.
He was Chairman, Governing Council, Abia State College of Health Technology, 2009 to 2010.
He was appointed Deputy General Manager,  Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) Aba and Environs in 2013.
He is married to Mrs. Nkechi Okezie Ikpeazu, and their marriage is 
blessed with four children,
Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu won the elections held on April 11, 2015 and the supplementary elections held two weeks later on April 25, 2015 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). 
in Abia state making him the 9th Governor of Abia State, Nigeria.
